Visual Effects

What is Visual Effects?

Visual Effects (commonly shortened to Visual FX or VFX) is the art and technique by which visuals are shaped or influenced in an environment external to a live-action shot in film making. VFX involves the integration of live-action footage (special FX) and generated visuals (digital FX) to produce environments that look real, but would be risky, costly, time-intensive or impossible to capture on film. With advancements in VFX technology and production software, more and more films are leveraging VFX and harnessing the power of computer-generated imagery (CGI) to create digital sets, fully computer-generated characters, props and fictional backdrops. Broadly divided into matte painting, simulation FX, and compositing, VFX has now become indispensable to film production. Creative talent passionate about film making can pursue an industry-oriented VFX course to learn the craft and break into the industry.

What Makes VFX a Popular Career Choice?

We all experience VFX in some form or the other every day, either through movies, online videos, advertisements, TV shows, games or other AVs. Due to the ubiquity of VFX, there is a perennial and growing need for content creation which is fuelling demand for diverse multimedia talent including VFX artists. In a world that loves to be entertained, film production companies and creative studios worldwide are constantly scouting for fresh talent. The growing scope for CGI in areas such as science, research, education and design are also adding to the job opportunities for VFX artists.
